very year at the church that I had belonged to, we were always reminded to Give Thanks, that being an American, living in America, that even your weakest, lowest or poorest situation was not as bad as that of a person in a third world nation. America still has it good, but we sure are looking right in the face of some hard times. We’ve gotten fat, America, like the turkey we are going to eat on Thursday, we’ve forgotten some deep down, deep founded tales of old that our grandparents and great grandparents have told us. We’ve forgotten how to be American, and if anything this R or D we are in brings us to is the fact that, we can’t spend more then we have and we better save for a rainy day, cuz it will rain!
I remember when I was a little girl, my grandfather had gotten sick and my Uncle (a bank president) had to work really hard to persuade my grandmother to take the money from her coal floor basement, hidden in a coffee can and put it in the bank. I remember her fear. Trust a bank? Maybe it’s time to bury a coffee can again?
Thanksgiving is a time to be glad, to rejoice and to look around us and to be thankful for what we have. If you have a roof over your head, food to eat, family to love. BE THANKFUL! True treasure lies in the family and true friends you have, that even in circumstances that are not perfect, they still love you, call you and care for you. Those are friends and they are rare, If you have any of those…BE THANKFUL.
Do me a favor, on Thursday morning…Don’t read the paper, Don’t listen or watch the news! Get up, stretch and look around you, and be Thankful. Give thanks…with a grateful heart!
And if you can, Give back. We had that chance to give back to Patrick Henry Academy. It’s the greatest feeling in the world to give of yourself. Here are two pictures I did not share with you from Patrick Henry.
This man came to get the food that COTR was giving out. When he received his box, I was standing there and he took it and promptly placed it on top of his shopping cart. A young boy leaned towards me and said “is he a bum” I responded “looks that way” We wondered what he would do with that turkey inside the box and in a small way, I hope he got to enjoy it or possibly share it. He was grateful we were there that day, and as he wheeled his cart down the road I took his picture again, it’s hard for me to imagine a life like that. But I do know, only by the grace of G-d go I! I’m very Thankful, and I hope you are too.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO MY FAMILY, FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS OLD AND NEW AND ALL THE CLIENTS OF CREATIONS PHOTOGRAPHY.
LEAVE ME A COMMENT OF SOMETHING YOU’RE THANKFUL FOR…ENCOURAGE OTHERS!
