I had the opportunity to attend this year Photo Plus show in NYC.  What a blast!

I stopped to talk to David Jay before he gave his presentation for adobe, he’s a great guy with a ton of great ideas for photographers!  Check him out when you get the time, shoot, even if you don’t have the time do it!  It will be very well worth your time.  David is a mentor to many!  I saw many many items we will be adding to our new packages starting Nov. 15th.

Joe Buissnick was there also and I stopped and listened to his presentation and spoke with him after.  He’s a great emotional photographer and even got my partner a bit excited about what he was sharing.

I met with Jerrry Ghionis (he swore he knew me)  It was fun!  He has some amazing products out there for photographers.

There was snaptotes (yep, I ordered a few items), Cypress Presentation Albums and really just too much to mention.  We’ve already blacked out the dates for next years Photo Plus Show.

I met with John Lo on day one and we hung out at PPE then went to a diner by BH, later Raquel and I went to BH to check things out, it was crazy mad busy!  As always!

On Friday we met with Tom and Annie from POTN and did the street thing, that was a blast, they took us a walking and by the time we hit the subway we were all so tired.  I finally found my milk tea I’ve not had since I was in Montreal years ago….Saint’s Alp, had awesome tea and food!  We walked to St. Marks Street (must have been a night of Saints), I took some pics and caught a cute one of Annies face in the flying pancake!

In New Jersey we hit our normal spots, Delicious Orchards, Sarah’s Tent, Deal Grocery Store, the Ocean, Poplar Drive and a new site Pier Village.  Very very fun.

We had a great time, it was great seeing everyone again and walking the streets.  I love street shooting!

On the drive home we found out that college students feel if you pass them, you are racing, One young lady from Lock Haven College about lost control of her car trying to pass us going way to fast in not enough space.  I was really surprised to see this was a normal behavior amongst the kids driving home.

We made it home safely and with pictures to share.  Who does not love NYC?

How many times do you get to meet the Mayor of America? October 21, 2008

I’ve been so blessed in my life to meet some amazing people, I’ve blogged about them all, but today meeting the “Mayor of America” was a thrill. I have admired Rudolph Giuliani for many many years as a politician!  Today we had planned to go see him up the street at the Rep. headquarters in Trumbull County, Ohio.  We got there just a bit early and I caught some really nice images.

There were a couple people that asked for pictures, so just contact me, by phone or email and leave me your address and I promise to get them out to you!

There was a also another special gentleman whose meeting Mr. Giuliani was very special and I was privileged to capture that for him.

The Mayor spoke briefly but what he did say was so uplifting and encouraging, and not full of fluff and glamour, but just a real talk.  Rudolph Giuliani is a real man, who knows the media, who knows life and hard times. I appreciated being able to hear him speak and being close enough to take these images for you to enjoy!

Just one comment….Ohhh to be that hand!  :-)

What Photographers Do…. October 20, 2008

I received an email today from someone that contacted me for some advice on packaging with concerns over his economic area and competition.  I was thrilled to help, I mean why not, I’ve been helped so many times over by some wonderful people and that is what we photographers should do, is help each other.

Heres the email I woke up to:

“You really give me inspiration.

And here I was…….about to give up on everything and sell the gear.

Thank you so much.”

Nothing feels better then to help someone, I really never knew he was ready to “sell his gear” and I’m glad he did not!

As Professional Photographers our goal should not be to tear the others down, but to build them up, there is so much to go around and no need to be destructive. Isn’t there already a bit TOO much of that in our lives now (just watch CNN)!

So many people have taken time out of their lives and their careers to answer my questions and re-questions, I only owe it back to them to help others.  No one gets where they are on their own, so if we just take a moment and remember when we started and think of those that helped us, it should be more then easy to help others.  It just feels so right!

I heard this in church yesterday and have to comment on it:  Study to show thyself approved!

Isn’t that the truth?  I know the Pastor was speaking on biblical terms but the connection between spiritual and natural is a fine line.

We all have areas in our lives that we are “weak” in.  Yep, I can name mine right now also! We can’t have the mentality “They know what I mean”, “I don’t care what people think”, “I don’t need to study”, “I am who I am”.  Those are some pretty bold statements and a whole lot of I’s.  I’d rather increase myself and study in those weak areas and show myself approved, and hopefully after enough challenging myself and working on my weak areas I can be a better person and photographer.

I bet you all want to know my weak areas huh!  I’ll tell you mine, if you tell me yours!  :-)

Ok, I’ll give you a hint: Thank G-D for spell check, now if there was just a grammar check!

Sunday our church had a picnic so I went and really wrestled with taking the camera, do I, or not?  I finally decided, I do, because it’s what I do.  I’m a photographer, and I knew if I left my camera back home, I’d be sorry.

It was a beautiful day.  WOW!  The trees are starting to change and I had Ami at the Park, what else can you ask for?

So here are  few pics to peek into some down time with Ami.  He’s adorable!

Also some shots of a few friends, Ami eating a plate, Rob stealing a HUGE stack of cookies, Moms and babies…enjoy.

Brian first met Amy over a job interview, whether or not Brian got the job he knew that when he left there, there was something far more interesting on his mind…Amy!

As time went on and everyone was telling Brian and Amy they would be perfect for each other.

In July of 2005, Brian and Amy started to date…

Let’s fast forward to Oct. 1st, 2008.  Brian and Amy were wed on Pier W in Cleveland, Ohio.  It was on this same date, location and time that Amy’s great grandparents were wed!

On October 4th, 2008, surrounded by family and friends a formal ceremony was held in Howland, Ohio and Creations Photography had the honor and privilage to record that memory.  An elegant receptions followed at Alberini’s Resturant in Niles, Ohio.

One parting note:  Wow, can Brian and Amy dance!

Thanks for letting us share in your day!

Girl scouts and Nabisco…look out! October 4, 2008

Everyone that knows me knows I am all about eating healthy.  I had a friend who would literally put her hand up in my face and say, ENOUGH!  I’d argue to the ground on what you eat, what I eat what we should be eating.  I know most of the things in ice cream can clean carpet and be used in road surfacing.  I can tell you all about PHO (Partially Hydrogenated Oils) and how great it is that the Heart Association FINALLY went after it and got them out of most of our foods.  Read your labels folks, it’s still in a lot of your foods and NO the levels are not “safe”.  My next attack High Fructose Corn Syrup.  OK OK OK…ENOUGH

So what is this to do with Girl Scouts and Nabisco…

A few years ago I had to give up my favorite girl scout cookie and it killed me to not buy them for two reasons, they are FLIPPIN’ good!  The second, I bought a few and the girl scout loved me.  But as I started to read labels I began to realize those cookies were going to KILL ME.

The same goes for my Nabisco favorite Fudge Stripe….

I’ve been without my favorite cookie for so long….until NOW

The Back To Nature food company has done the most marvelous thing, I mean, honestly can a food company be close to God?  I mean seriously, it’s an amazing thing….

So…here they are, not the best picture in the world but if I could get paid in cookies THESE would be it.

Now again, I am a health food nut and I’m really really REALLY loving these cookies.  The cost of them is crazy, but I pay it, because I like them, ok I LOVE them…I urge you to find them, try them and enjoy them.

so can a cookie be healthy?
